COLORADO SWANA OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Procedures and Qualification Requirements

1. INTRODUCTION

The Colorado Rocky Mountain SWANA Chapter will annually recognize an individual for his/her contribution to the field of solid waste management in Colorado. Nominees will be considered on an annual basis, but not necessarily awarded every year. Outstanding Achievement Awards will be presented at the Chapter's Annual Meeting.

2. BASIS FOR SELECTION

The minimum criteria Outstanding Achievement awards include:

  • A current member of SWANA in good standing
  • Valuable and distinguished service to the Chapter
  • Valuable and distinguished service to individual's employer
  • Valuable and distinguished service to the solid waste industry ingeneral
  • Supportive to the conduct and advancement of SWANA's mission

Other factors that may be considered in the selection for an individual award are:

  • Length of service to the particular field or industry
  • Contributions outside the particular field or industry
  • Other pertinent factors.

3. NOMINATIONS

Nominations can made by the candidate or on behalf of the candidate. Nominations must be made in a maximum one-page description of why the candidate is worthy, including how the minimum criteria are met and what other factors apply.

Nominations shall be solicited and prepared by the Chapter Award Committee each year prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations can be submitted to the Committee at any time, however.

4. AWARD SELECTION

The Chapter Award Committee at a minimum shall include the Committee Chair, current President Vice President and any other interested Board members.. The Committee shall review all nominations and complete a ranking form for each candidate. The rankings shall then be used to identify the top candidate. A unanimous vote is required for the award. Where these individuals cannot agree then no award will be made that year. Although an award can be given regardless of ranking if a unanimous vote occurs, a ranking of 60% or greater is preferred

5. AWARD

Recognition and award will include reimbursement of registration and lodging expenses at the Annual Meeting when the award is made.
